They did a really nice job with Alex's haircut.

When we were talking about going to the salon, she said she wanted it really short, like to chin length. I suggested that we start with shoulder length, and promised her that she could go back to the salon to get it shorter if she wanted to later on. And sure enough, when she looked in the mirror after the cut she decided that it was plenty short.





I tried to take a picture of the, ah, partially-cut version for you guys, but the pictures didn't turn out. With hair as long as Alex's was, it's hard to get a good visual of one missing chunk.

I think it looks cute, and it will be a LOT easier. We went from waist-length to chin-length with Hannah (planned, not a... spontaneous haircut ;) and everybody was happy.

Going shorter in stages is good- I once watched a grown woman who had driven herself to a salon and insisted on a very short cut break down in tears when she actually *saw* it. Humans are very strange.

The picture on this icon is right after I had 12" cut off to send to Locks of Love. The hairdresser asked me over and over if I wanted my hair cut that short and finally she believed me.

They do believe it, eventually, if one is very calm. (If he hadn't, I would have gone into the bathroom for a moment and done a ponytail-chop myself, and perhaps he sensed that.)

I think it looks lovely, like a big kid and not a little kid, and it's still long enough for pony tails, pigtails, braids and barrettes.
