Anything is possible in dreams - any location, real or imagined; any activities, plausible or implausible.

So I feel totally cheated that this morning I had a good long dream in which I was picking up tiny plastic toys, the kind that kids are given as prizes or whatever and don't care about or play with. And cheap candy. And bits of paper. For the entire length of the dream, all I did was try to clean up this junk.

Dude. That's not what dreams are for.

I had an extremely vivid dream last night that one of my daughter's friends had died, so vivid that when I woke up I wasn't entirely sure I'd dreamed all of it. She'd died at school, in a freak accident involving strangulation after being partly caught in some lawn-mowing equipment, and the school was insisting that it was the kid's fault for getting up close to something she'd been told to stay away from (which, to be fair, would be modus operandi for this kid; she's a non-stop limit tester). I'm friends with the girl's mother, and we've hired her big sister to babysit once and to feed our cats, and in the dream I was vividly horrified at all the implications -- for the girl, for my daughter's loss of a friend, for her parents, etc.

It should have been a huge relief to wake up except that it wasn't until I woke up in the morning that I was 100% sure that it had ALL been a dream.

(I swear I'm not trying to one-up you; the dream is still weighing on me so I wanted to share.)

I had a very similar dream the other night: my house was full of cheap ugly toys that needed putting away... and as yet, my baby in reality only has about five toys. Eep! I am pre-cleaning up his crap!

I hope you have a dream of beautiful scenery, lovely people and awesome magical powers to compensate.

Ugh! That sounds like a recurrent stress dream I get. Basically, I'm moving and I need to pack up all my crap and there's never enough time and there's far too much crap. Yaaaaargh.

This scenario is not one iota better when you're living it.

Agreed. I'm fairly sure that this particular dream is triggered by a certain stress harmonic whose resonance is linked to an actual moving experience.
