(no subject)

I need to post about my weekend, but I've just been too sleepy. So instead you get some conversations with my son.

Colin: Breakfast.
Me: You want some breakfast?
Colin: Yes.
Me: What do you want to eat?
Colin: Chocolate ice cream.

Me: Having bathed Colin, runs new bath for Alex and helps her in.
Colin:
Shirt off. Onesie off. Diaper off.
Me: No, this is Alex's bath. It's Alex's turn.
Colin: exits the room Colin stairs. Alex privacy.

Me: Shh, Colin, it's time to go to sleep.
Colin: Bunny!
Me: No, Bunny is in the crib. Bunny is sleeping.
Colin, loudly: Wake up Bunny! To me: Bunny awake.

That last one notwithstanding, I love it so much when they get old enough to have a conversation. Talking kids are the best.

I *adore* the two-word stage. Syntax! Overnight! And thank you--I desperately needed a happy thing today.

I actually love that last kind of conversation. It does produce practical difficulties, but I adore the point where they take control of their imaginary constructions, even when they take it away from me.

My favourite is either "Colin stairs. Alex privacy," or "Bunny awake."

I *loved* "Alex privacy"

Ohhhh too cute! I love that he is so respectful of Alex's privacy.

I love the age Ellie is at right now but I'm so excited for the convos to begin. Even though I suspect we'll be having a lot of #3 type ones. :)

I am so impressed that he knows about privacy already.

Yeah, I don't think he actually understands the ramifications. But he does hear it a lot. Mostly in the contexts of (a) staying out of the bathroom when someone other than Mama is in there, and (b) not pushing up my shirt when he's nursing in public.

If Alex doesn't take over the world quickly enough, Colin just might do it instead. Those conversations are brilliant, as well as ridiculously cute.

Oops. That was me. Forgot to sign in, sorry.

That is so cute. I LOVE "wake up bunny!"

We're just starting with words (finally) so I'm looking forward to having these sort of conversations before too long :)
