I got quotes from ten moving companies.

One was self-evidently a rogue mover. The quote was in plain text instead of on a quote form, only offered two workers, and required payment in cash. The Better Business Bureau has no record of the "company's" existence.

Six had ratings of D or F from the BBB.

Two had no rating available from the BBB, with a notation that the rating was "under review."

...I guess we're going with the tenth one?

If they're not one of the companies on your list, J K Moving and Storage handled our recent office move and our office manager says she's used them for her own residential moves and previous office moves with no complaints.

Yes, I've used them three times -- the original move out here (I will have owned the condo for twenty years on the 30th), taking almost everything out five years ago so I could put laminate down and repaint, and bring all that back.

I've never had problems with them.

(They used to have an office a few blocks from me in Old Town, but they moved further out. My guess is that the warehouse there was too small.)

I was all delighted to get a personal reference, but it turns out that, per hour, they're more than twice as expensive as every other company I checked with. Yikes.

Ouch. Yeah, that's a bit of a disincentive there. I saw a Yelp review saying they were on the pricey side, but I didn't see any of the quote for the office move; I just showed up to put my stuff into boxes and then to take it out again on the other side. :)

My condo is 863 sqft and it was $1515.20 for out and in. They packaged everything that went out, but I paid a high school kid to come unpack the books -- he's a fan. You've probably got a lot more than I do.
