Sep. 17th, 2002 06:34 pmYay! I found a place to stay for my upcoming trip to Iowa City. It's a Victorian guest house facing a small park, six blocks from the psych department. I'll have a room with a double bed, a work area with a desk, a loveseat, cable TV, and a private bath, and there will be access to a shared kitchen furnished with pans and dishes. There's a continental breakfast provided. I'll have my own key - no curfew hours like in a hostel. The owner screens residents for studiousness to ensure that it will be a quiet work environment. I'll have privacy, but it won't be as lonely and isolated as staying in a motel. And it's only $30/night, plus I'll save money by being able to store food and cook.
I'm still dreading this trip, but at least I have a nice place to stay.

I could have gotten a room for $5 less per night if I'd been willing to share a bathroom and not have a loveseat, but I'm going to be there a long time and I'd rather be comfortable.
I just hope nothing's wrong with it. But I actually think their rates are much higher if you're only staying a day or two - this is how they ensure long-term guests.
When do you leave? Do I get to catch you online before you go? I miss you and have about a billion things to ask or tell you. :-(
I miss you too. Every time I pop into IM you're not there, but I'll try to keep it up more determinedly to make sure we catch each other. I leave Friday afternoon.
