I am charmed to know about the existence of foliage reports. Apparently, there's a complex network of leaf-peepers out there whose reports generate maps of prime viewing times and locations. I love the variety of things that people will turn their hands to, given time and web space.
How did the existence of foliage reports come to my attention? Because Ben is taking me away for the weekend, to a secluded lodge in the wilds of Western Maryland. It'll be our first whole weekend together - and our last visit for a long while, because right after alt.polycon he's leaving to sail south for the winter. We'll sit by the fire and walk in the woods (bundled up - it's supposed to be down in the 30s), and it will be good. See you all Monday.
