Late to the meme.

A - Age: Just turned 29 on October 26.
B - Best Quality: Compassionate. Intelligent. I waver in which one I think is my best quality depending on my current perception of how rare each quality is in the general population.
C - Choice of Meat: I'd rather have fish than meat. But I'm exceptionally fond of lamb. Duck is also highly favored, especially the medium-rare breast of duck in pomegranate-chile sauce I had last weekend at the Blue Agave.
D - Dream Date: With someone I am already dating: sushi, hot tubbing in an attractive location, great sex, and chocolate. In that order, with conversation throughout. With someone I am getting to know: I have no idea. I don't really have that kind of date.
E - Ex (most recent): The TOCOTOXling. We pause the survey now for involuntary wincing. Okay, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
F - Favorite Food: Sushi, but I love a lot of different foods. Food is important to me. A well-prepared meal is one of the finest pleasures in life.
G - Greatest Accomplishment: Probably this case.
H - Happiest Day of Your Life: It's a cliche, I know, and I'm kind of ashamed to admit it because of that - but my wedding day with Michael was probably the happiest day of my life so far. I was surrounded by so much concentrated love, and I felt my vows so intensely and joyously.
I - Internal Conflicts: The endless battle against laziness, dilatoriness, and procrastination to actually get anything done.
J - Jail Time: No.
K - Kool-Aid: Only lemonade flavored, but even then I'd rather have frozen lemonade.
L - Love: is the fundamental organizing principle of my life.
M - Most Valued Thing I Own: I'd like to say something sentimental here, but the fact is it's probably my Palm Pilot.
N - Name: Rivka Wald. Which is short for Rebecca Lynn Wald, but these days I feel much more like a Rivka than a Rebecca.
O - Outfit You Love: Nothing I own is more fabulous than the ball gown [livejournal.com profile] wcg made for me. But other outfits are better for different purposes. I like what I'm wearing today: forest green wool jacket, white scoopneck cotton shirt, black slacks, black leather ankle boots, and an offbeat metal pin in the shape of a bird. It's a good "understated power" look for work.
P - Pizza Toppings: White sauce, spinach, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, garlic, and feta and mozzarella cheeses, on a sourdough crust. I miss Pizza Oasis in Portland.
Q - Question You Want To Ask: Is it me?
R - Road Trip: If a road trip means driving, the last one I took was to Garrett County in the mountains of Western Maryland, at the height of the foliage season, with Ben. It was lovely. The most extensive one I ever took was a two-week trip from Portland OR to Boston MA, via San Francisco, the Sequoias, the Mojave Desert, Zion National Park, just short of the rim of the Grand Canyon, and Mesa Verde.
S - Sport To Watch: Baseball.
T - Television Show: The West Wing, The Amazing Race, Trading Spaces, and baseball games.
U - Unique Habit: I don't think any of my habits are truly unique, but I've never seen anyone who holds pen and paper the same way I do for writing. (The paper goes sideways, with the top at the left, and my pen hand goes above the line I'm writing. It's kind of like the traditional lefty overhand hook, but with the paper rotated 90 degrees so the pen hand is in a more natural position.)
V - Voice: I used to have an unexceptional but workmanlike choral alto voice, which has gone all to hell since I stopped singing regularly. I'd like to take voice lessons, but I'd be embarrassed to have a teacher hear my voice in its current state.
W - Winter: "Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this son of York..."
X - X?: I never tried it, although I used to be interested. It seemed ridiculously expensive, compared to the price of LSD.
Y - Your Name If You'd Been Born The Opposite Sex: Daniel.
Z - Zodiac Sign: Scorpio.

You like the The Amazing Race too? Although not my favorite show, I though I was just about the only one in the country who watched it -- no on else I knew did.

And I am sitting here crying over your greatest accomplishment. I only hope that I can have that profound an effect on the world someday. You are really really an amazing person.

Michael and I have been watching it since the first season. We love it. I don't watch any other reality TV (unless Trading Spaces counts) - the ugly-social-microcosm ones like Survivor creep the hell out of me. But I love the racing, and watching how good partnerships work under pressure.

It's funny that you call it having a profound effect on the world, because it was one guy and me, having profound effects on each other. But yeah, that was a hell of an experience. I learned a lot from that case.

V - Voice: I used to have an unexceptional but workmanlike choral alto voice, which has gone all to hell since I stopped singing regularly. I'd like to take voice lessons, but I'd be embarrassed to have a teacher hear my voice in its current state.

oh my! i went 14 years without singing seriously and lost the top of my first soprano range. then my ex left me and voice lessons were the gift i decided to give to myself despite my financial straits--something i could do for me to give myself a missing part of myself again. anyway, i must have been in dreadful shape, but that's what the teacher's there for and after a year of working really hard, i was able to audition for and get into the group with which i now sing--as a first soprano! so i'd say if it's important to you, don't let what you sound like to your ears get in the way.

this unsolicited advice brought to you by the letter V, obviously ;-)

This was really neat. Thanks, Rivka.

Same with me, except I was second soprano. I finally started taking lessons this year and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. While I can get frustrated and embarrassed by my voice, it tends to get overshadowed rather quickly by the joy I feel when singing. I hope you do it!

Carol

Me too.

Hi Rivka!

I never had the nerve to sing in public, ever, until I realized that a goodly portion of my stress during my last yr in Austin was caused by a lack of organized music-making (first time since 6th grade, come to think). So I joined my church choir. It's been wonderful fun, and the director is giving me lessons. I don't know if your church has a choir, but if so, I'd say go for it--failing that, maybe a community choir?

Anne
she of the undiscovered depths (yep, I can sing tenor!) ;-)p

You said you were doing this survey late, but yours is the first one I've seen. I don't know if that's because I've pruned my Default View so as to not waste too much time on lj...

I boggled immensely at your answer to "X", not understanding the question, until I worked out that you mean ecstacy. Do you (Americans/North Americans/Rivka) really call it X? How odd! It's always been called E here. Hence the storm about The Shaman's song "Ebeneezer Goode", which had lyrics as follows:
His name is Eezer and he is a fine geezer
and he goes by the name of Ebeneezer Goode
Eezer Goode, Eezer Goode
'e's Ebeneezer Goode
etc.

It was a very big hit here a few years ago, probably because like all The Shaman's songs, it's very catchy and appeals to people who don't normally like dance music, but there was a big storm of controversy over whether or not the radio stations should be playing a song that was saying "Es are good". Anyway, there's some trivia for you.

I think it's called E some places here too, but also I've heard it called X. *shrug* There a lot of people with nothing better to do than sit around making up new drug nicknames, I guess.

In the U.S. there's a lot of regionalism in drug names. I work with drug addicts in two different cities, Baltimore & Washington DC. In Baltimore, crack cocaine isn't called "crack" at all - it's "rock" or "ready rock." In Washington DC, they say "crack." And that's over a distance of only about 40 miles.
