We dug out one of our cars. It was really hard. The snow was waist-deep between and around the cars, blown there by the wind, and the plows had already come through and dumped heavy snow behind us.
The trouble with living in an apartment and having a parking lot is that you can't toss the snow off to one side - you have to carry it out of the way of all the other cars. We mostly used laundry baskets for the purpose.
It was hard work. I'm impressed with the new strength I have from exercising - I was out there shoveling for nearly two hours, and I got a lot done myself. That wouldn't have been possible last winter.
curiousangel's newly developed muscles also proved to be extremely useful. Go, us!

Date: 2003-02-17 05:10 pm (UTC)That sounds familiar, though actually the only parts of my car that are visible are a side mirror and the antenna. At least on the side I've been able to see. They still haven't cleared the sidewalks, and I have no shovel, so I barely managed to get outside and around the corner to take pictures earlier today. Struggling out to the parking lot would have been way too much work for no real purpose, since I haven't the tools to clear the car out with. I'm pretty much stuck 'til the snow melts, at this point.
(But as soon as it does, I'm buyin' a shovel! Just didn't occur to me that I'd really need one, living in an apartment complex and all.)
