I can't believe curiousangel didn't post about this first.

If the slightest possibility exists that Bruichladdich distillery on Islay is a threat to world peace, we need to know.

For it has been revealed that Ursula, a spy with the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency - "Our mission to safeguard the US and its allies from weapons of mass destruction" - has been monitoring the island distillery.

Apparently, it takes just a "tweak" - her words - in the process of making whisky and Bruichladdich could be churning out chemical weapons.

Yes, I expect that if it closed tobesv would go on some sort of rampage once he got sober. For the sake of the guild the liquor must flow! <wink>

I'm particularly amused by the email they got about their webcam being down. Ursula apparently had no problem saying she was a US spy. Isn't that supposed to be, you know, secret?

I've always said that was silly. I mean if I didn't watch my sausage being made I could burst one of the casings or, worse, lose a finger or something! So I watch very carefully as the wonderful mixture of fat, pork, and lots of beef fills up the length of intestine. MMMM kielbasa! Nothing like home made!

We offered it up for general consumption at the natural-foodsco-op that I used to work for. I actually tried it, and the general consensus was, "Tastes like processed refried beans."

I now wish that we had just kept it for a keepsake. :)

Close. Haggis is a sheep's stomach stuffed with meat, oatmeal, and things. And sausage is an intestine stuffed with meat and things. It's the "and things" part that can start grossing out people. Of course if I started explaining to them what gelatin is made out of or what beer is in detail I'll bet they'd stop having those too. It's just that people are socialized that "guts are gross" or something.

This almost -- not quite, but almost -- makes me reconsider my opinion of Scotch as a vile substance. I almost wish I drank the stuff now. Do you suppse that there is any chance that they will come to consider the Cruzan distillery in Puerto Rico a threat to national security?
