Bleah

This was supposed to be my first day actually seeing patients in PG County.

I'm not there.

I felt a little under the weather yesterday, but not so much that I didn't want to go to English Country Dance. This morning when I woke up, I felt a bit ill as well. That's actually fairly common for me - I have a glitch in my anatomy which causes me to get nauseated on a fairly regular basis if my stomach is empty. Usually nibbling a few crackers takes care of it. So I had some crackers and a cup of tea, got dressed in my work clothes, and was rushing around trying to find my book so I'd have something to read on the train.

And then, suddenly, I was on my knees in the bathroom getting rid of the crackers, the tea, and ultimately everything I had ever eaten in my life.

It's a measure of how much I want this PG county job that my first thought was "Okay, now that I've thrown up I'll probably be okay to go to work." Sanity quickly reasserted itself, especially when I started feeling nauseated again about five minutes later. Just now it took me twenty minutes to muster the energy to get off the couch and pour myself a little warm Sprite, so I'm thinking I made the right decision.

Bleah. I hate being sick.

Yuck.

I hope you feel better soon, and get over this fast.

GAS: Have you tried candied ginger for nausea? I've found that it helps me if I'm feeling like that, at least to feel a bit better and get my stomach to settle.

Oh ick!

*hugs, sympathy and ginger tea*

Oh darling, I'm so sorry. But yes, you were right to stay home. I'm sure that the people at the PG county clinic will understand, and would prefer that you not be there in this condition.

Oh no!

What a waste of good crackers!

Rivka MacRivka, sick as can be,
couldn't get to PGC.
We would call the doctor, but the doctor's she!
Get that girl some ginger tea.

Ahem.

This all being intended in the most sympathetic of ways, of course. I do hope you're feeling better soon. There seems to be a flu abouts.

Oh, it was taken very sympathetically. I liked it. I am feeling somewhat better today, and have hopes of returning to the world of the living soon. There's a flu abouts? Don't y'all get sick.

yay! rivka doesn't have anthrax and we're not all going to die. (what, me a paranoid worrier?)

Furthermore, for the first time ever i can order pizza online, so civilization has at last arrived. Well, assuming the mushrooms aren't canned.

You can order pizza online? Where? I must know!

(Misha told me yesterday that my symptoms did not match up with anthrax. Or I would have been foretelling the doom of civilization myself.)

ribbit (http://www.papajohns.com/)

i really hope it is good, because the pizza hut that delivers here was so bad, and dominoes is evil for some reason i forget, and the other place nearby uses canned horrible things, and the other place nearby has horrible rectangular things that they wrongfully name "pizza".
