Holy Shit!
Feb. 9th, 2004 10:41 pmI just checked out my sitemeter for Respectful of Otters. 2756, it said, in what appeared to be a misprint.
Except, no. Nine hundred nineteen visitors today, where I've previously been averaging about 50.
The American Prospect linked to me. Thanks to
pnh, apparently, who was responsible for my previous record high in traffic (135, I think), when he linked to me on Saturday.
You know what I'm feeling now? Sheer, raw terror. But it's kind of a fun terror.
Nine hundred nineteen visitors today. Eeeek! What do I do now?
Update: It hit a thousand by midnight. Oh my god oh my god oh my god.

Seriously, I couldn't agree more with your other friends -- keep doing what you're doing now, writing on what moves you. That's how you got the blogalanche... no, let me rephrase that; how you EARNED the blogalanche you're enjoying.
Ain't it grand?

Date: 2004-02-10 06:18 am (UTC)The traffic varies on and off, but it should level out at a much higher number.

Date: 2004-02-10 09:45 pm (UTC)Then have a cup of tea and go back to work. And remember this -- especially if you happen to feel insecure about your work in this world or uncertain about your writing abilities -- at least a thousand random people thought you were worth reading! And several Noted Authority figures thought what you have to say, and how you said it, needed to be be seen/heard by others. (Respectfully, of course)
My mom was a social worker; she would have approved of your entry unreservedly. As her daughter, I can do no less.
I know what I'd like to see
Date: 2004-02-12 02:39 pm (UTC)Also, have you see yourself on Technorati (http://www.technorati.com/cosmos/search.html?PHPSESSID=09ab1156a60980a6f0e967dc8f4b8946&rank=&type=&url=http%3A%2F%2Frespectfulofotters.blogspot.com)?
