The bad news: my maternity clothes shopping was based on the apparently faulty assumption that all pregnant women become massive internal heat generators. I have, for example, lots of blouses and light knit shirts.

The good news: some of my big, boxy, insanely warm, too-baggy-for-work wool sweaters have now developed a sleek, body-skimming fit, such that I feel comfortable wearing them to the office.

The Goddess of Pregnancy taketh away with one hand and giveth with the other.

I am so thankful that for many years I have worn baggy clothes (not exclusively, but they are around) - it's like having a built-in maternity wardrobe.

I am also not generating internal heat the way I was promised - I'm as cold as ever!

I wonder if that has something to do with not gaining much weight.

How are you feeling these days?

I have finally gained a little weight, so that's good. I'm naturally a cold person - so I was actually looking forward to having my body temperature rise. Figures.

I feel great. Aside from the waddling and occasional very minor cramping (darn ligaments), it's been awfully good, really. I have NOTHING to complain about. She kicks away on a regular basis - but no longer on my cervix or my bladder, for which I am thankful. I was trying to describe to my dad what the kicking feels like, but it's hard to come up with anything that comes close.

I believe heat-generation works best in August. Keep an eye on your favourite jumpers though - the pregnancy bulge may well stay with them, as my friend discovered when wearing her "fat clothes" for pregnancy (she lost 3 stone to get pregnant and so never bought maternity gear).
