I'm about ready to stop being pregnant. I am not going to go into a protracted litany of complaints here, but the shorthand version is that I am large, awkward, tired, and sore.

We went out yesterday and bought the remaining things we definitely need to have on hand before the baby is born. (Except diapers, because we are still comparison shopping for the best place to buy.) So we now have an infant-size carseat, and someplace for the baby to sleep, and a playpen/bassinet/changing table for the living room, and a breast pump, and a nursing pillow, and of course piles of cute tiny outfits and little cardboard books and so forth. curiousangel is out installing the carseat right now. So if she's born soon, we will make it. Physically, at least.

We still don't have much more news on the delivery front. I talked to an anesthesiologist over the phone, and he said that my spinal fusion was high enough that "probably" I could have a spinal or epidural anesthesia below it. I'll be taking my X-rays by the hospital on Tuesday for a consultation, but I am feeling somewhat encouraged. I really think I will be fine with a C-section if I can be conscious for it - although of course I'm still hoping that she'll be able to squeeze out without surgical help. That means hoping that I'll go into labor sooner rather than later, so any "hurry up and dilate" vibes you want to send my way would be welcome. (Although kcobweb probably thinks you should send them to her.)

Thanks, everyone, for your support and encouragement this week. I've definitely needed it.

As far as I'm concerned, anything past the 14th (when she will officially be considered full-term) is fair game. But saoba won't be here until the 22nd, so hoping for the 23rd would give us the most available support.

It's amazing to see how much things have changed since I saw you just a few months ago at alt.polycon! (At the time, I thought "Yep, she definitely looks pregnant even without the second name badge on her belly" and now I'm thinking "Wow, it definitely looks like the baby is coming soon!")

I hope that the Lil'Critter hurries up and makes her arrival, for everyone's sake.

What kind of diapers are you thinking of? Because I've got 17 brand new Fuzzi Bunz (and one that was used once, then laundered to like-new condition) in a dazzling array of lovely colors that I've been meaning to sell on eBay but haven't gotten around to yet. Alexander was born early, and was too small for them, and then our dryer went kerflooey, so we're still using disposables. Anyway, I'd gladly beat whatever price you can find if you'd like them.

than last time I commented on your pregnancy photos. I am sure that however things unfold, you are all very well prepared and will have a positive experience, even if it isn't exactly what you wanted or what you planned. It'll work out and you will wind up with a wonderful baby and that's the biggest thing!

Speaking of prepared, even if you haven't sorted out the best options on diapers, send Michael to the store immediately for a package of newborn disposables. Trust me that having blown a few bucks on some that turn out to be sub-optimal will beat the hell out of being caught with none. BTDT or something similar...

More skin? Of course I am in favour of more skin, but for all the right reasons, whatever they are ;-)
