Alex: Where are we going?
Me: To the playground.
Alex: I want to go to the loloma.
Me: What is a loloma?
Alex: You take clothes there.
Me: Oh, a laundromat?
Alex: Yes! I want to go to the laundromat.
Me: I think the playground would probably be more fun.
Alex: No, I want to go to the laundromat.
Me: Emily and Zoe are meeting us at the playground.
Alex: They should go to the laundromat with us.
Me: Why do you want to go to the laundromat?
Alex: [...]
Me: What would we do at the laundromat?
Alex: Play and play and not go home.
Me: You want to play at the laundromat? Not the playground?
Alex: Play and play and not go home.
Me: I don't think there's anything to play with at the laundromat.
Alex: There is! They have special toys to play with.
Me: Special toys?
Alex: It's called jeans. And clothes.

I remember parts of stories I told that just seemed *right*, and sensible. Mostly, they were wishful thinking, or thinking about how things *had* to be... maybe like I'd figured out How The World Worked.

I remember once listing all the diseases that existed, period, the end, ending with "or you're just plain old ordinary sick". I was quite certain that my medical knowledge was sufficient to become a doctor once I learned to treat "plain old ordinary sick."
