Terrifying words from one's three-year-old...

"I need these to work my Terrible Magic."

This was shortly followed by: "I'm going to cause something. Cause! Cause! Cause!"

[identity profile] hobbitbabe.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee.

"Cause!" reminds me of the time my 2yo sister came running to me and my mum full of alarm, shouting "Happened! Happened!"

What had happened, while mum and I were out of the kitchen discussing plans for my birthday party, involved the electric mixer being turned on and spraying chocolate cake batter all over the kitchen. A more complete story of the incident was not available.

Already preparing for world domination. Won't take much, what with that smile of hers...

I'll bet she's reading your Harry Potter books while you're not looking. :-D

[identity profile] curiousangel.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm betting that she's been listening to me work on the annual budget for our church. :)

[identity profile] rivka.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It frightens me when you use that icon to refer to our daughter.

[identity profile] rivka.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it might be a reference to Bartholomew and the Oobleck (http://www.amazon.com/Bartholomew-Oobleck-Caldecott-Honor-Classic/dp/0394800753/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208204280&sr=8-1). At least, she said some other stuff about eating boiled owls which is a direct quote from that book, so the terrible magic and the causing things probably come from Bartholomew too.

In which case, I approve. (Bartholomew... is my very favorite Dr. Seuss book).

Now you need to introduce her to real oobleck (http://www.instructables.com/id/Oobleck/). (Although I recommend omitting the coloring).

I just recently figured out that she has the attention span now for the long Dr. Seuss books. It is SO nice to be able to move from Green Eggs and Ham to The Sleep Book and Bartholomew and Happy Birthday to You.

I'm now reminded of that lovely picture of Alex finger-painting where she looks as if she has been engaged in human sacrifice.

[identity profile] janetmiles.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear.

Dale also commented on the birthday pictures, "She's developing a Spock eyebrow. Be afraid. Be very afraid."

I'm just here to say I love your icon. ;)

Dare I ask what it was she needed?

[identity profile] rivka.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
A bundle of knitting needles. "Cause! Cause! Cause!" looked like she was fencing with the accordion door to her bathroom.

I can virtually guarantee you that "Cause! Cause! Cause!" is going to be a new catchphrase in my house. ;-)

(Can't comment, still laughing too hard)

And what's your costume Esther?

[identity profile] dragon3.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a princess.

An EVIL princess...

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Um...you might want to hide any small critters that might be in the neighbourhood. And perhaps look for the duct tape :-)

Immediately after (in space; chronologically, before) your post in my F-list was Bronx Ritual Magic Plot Foiled.

I seem to recall that Alex knew that the Yankees were bad from an exceptionally young age...

A friend of mine once caught her five-year-old in the middle of a magic ritual that had the aim of turning her teacher into a pot of jam.

She blames Roald Dahl.

My father sometimes would cry "caw, caw, caw" to indicate that he was ravenous (i.e., full of ravens).
