I didn't make this questionnaire up. I'm not the one who chose it for our research. And this kind of question demonstrates why I didn't.

Obviously there's something seriously wrong with the available choices here. This item begs for deconstruction. Or maybe elaboration. Doesn't it?

You don't get to skip questions, if I remember correctly, but since I took it, most places have phased it out. (It's also strongly culturally biased - another question was "I like the book "Alice in Wonderland" with again, true/false options. (What that means if you've never read it, I don't know...)

The weird questions made a lot more sense once I did a bit more research. The MMPI is gathered from questions used to measure various psychological disorders and such among limited populations (prison and some other things of the kind looking for things like depression and schizophrenia and such) and the results then examined, and it was discovered they applied more generally to the population as well.

Other tests have since been designed, and they're a lot less bizarre, as I understand it.
