I yawned hard on the way home from the theater tonight, and there was a sudden snap. It felt to me like my jaw had dislocated briefly and then re-located. And now it aches. Scary. I hope this is just a freak occurrence, and not something I'm going to need to watch out for from now on.

Unless you've actually had a dislocation before, this almost certainly represents a strain/sprain, as you stretched the jaw, and no worse than that.... chalk it up to "freak", I think.
