Heh. I'd be amused, too. Quietly.

I think you are allowed to *be* amused, but you aren't allowed to laugh where he can see it.

Do you give points for honesty?

On the scale of "probable alcoholics", would the following exchange rate higher or lower than your example?

Q: Do you drink every day?
A: I don't remember...

Having done client interviews like that...it's no wonder I can't stop laughing.

Sorry.

Do you give points for honesty?

Yes. Without it, we'd have no research program. Only very rarely do I even indicate to research subjects that it's a bad idea to be doing what they tell me they're doing - because I'm afraid they'll be less honest next time. There are exceptions. ("It's good that you're not sharing needles - that's great - but you also need to be using your own cooker and cotton and rinse water, because HIV can live in there too." "Oh, really? I didn't know that." "Sure, lots of people don't.")

Do you talk about hepatitis at all? I've been reading conflicting things as to whether the cleaning protocols that we've been taught for HIV are effective for Hepatits B and C, and I'm curious.
